Spanish, the official language of the Dominican Republic is written on street signs and restaurant menus everywhere. English is not on any sign unless it caters to tourism (resorts, etc). Dominicans have the right to worship any religion they so choose . The last census ran showed the predominant religion to be of Roman Catholic. Dominicans express the way they feel either by dance, sports or art. In many places you will see hand crafted art ranging from paintings to statues from the populace. Dominicans take pride in themselves and are very fashionable. They believe the way they dress shows a sign of wealthiness. A house-guest in the real Dominican is treated like royalty. They cater to you as much as they can and don’t be offended if you made an appointment and they are considerably late!
