Dominican Republic Architecture

The quality and variety of architecture found in the Dominican Republic is one of the highest in the Caribbean.  You can find in Santo Domingo and Santiago examples of Cuban Victorian, Caribbean gingerbread,  Art Deco and Gothic which was very popular in Europe during colonial times.  San Pedro de Macoris was the first town in the Dominican Republic to use reinforced concrete; here you will also find the late Victorian style buildings.  The buildings on the North coast vary between the vernacular Antillean and the pure Victorian, sometimes English as well as North American.  For more information on this island CLICK HERE.
